Alex Scutchfield is a partner is the firm’s Lexington office. Alex joined the firm in January 2009. He was previously a member at Stites and Harbison. A trial lawyer with a breadth of experience, Alex has represented insurance, equine, real estate, banking and other business interests in state and federal courtrooms throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky for the past 12 years. In addition to experience in a variety of jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations, Alex has successfully represented clients in dozens of mediations. He is focused on finding smart, cost effective and aggressive solutions to his clients’ litigation and business needs.
Recently, Mr. Scutchfield oversaw the windup and receivership of a title agency which caused losses to lenders by failing to remit mortgage pay-offs. Through his efforts, the title insurance carrier insuring those losses was able to recoup nearly $500,000, a majority of the sums owed. Alex recently represented a thoroughbred owner in recovering a mid-six figure settlement in litigation arising from a barn fire of undetermined origin.
Mr. Scutchfield is a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law and the University of California at Los Angeles. While at UK, he served as President of the Student Bar Association, Associate Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal and as a member of the Trial Advocacy Board.
Alex is a former President of the Fayette County Bar Association and was named that organization’s Outstanding Young Lawyer in 2007. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Pro Bono Program. Scutchfield most recently co-authored a chapter in Kentucky Civil Practice at Trial.
